🏮來自校長的感謝：灣谷因為有您而美好

兔年新春聯歡前夕，因應雨勢，緊急更改地點！

倒數計時！團結一心的灣谷團隊，展現出色的應變能力！

活動前一天，為了尋找有大禮堂的新場地，和學區展開密切聯繫。

電郵，電話，不斷往返！下午四點，終於等到學區回覆：

“Your request is approved!”

新場地申請，最後一刻獲准！頓時，心中大石落地！

Gale Ranch中學，週末為灣谷敞開大門。大禮堂可以容納七百人！有空調，有燈光，有音響，有大舞台，有喜氣的紅色移動布幕，非常大氣，很適合舉辦新春大型活動。一場雨，讓灣谷因禍得福。

新場地定案，各班老師即刻通知家長；學校臉書，官網，同步更新訊息；義工家長齊聲呼應，全校上下一心！

感激前校長宋國恩，從節目流程，到舞台設置，寶貴經驗傳承；三位董事，張東明，毛小苓，張麗文，秘書長潘善雲，前輩劉華山，鍾月，亦步亦趨提點。

重要幹部，張麗文，蔡穎惠，高竹儀，盡心盡力，全力馳援！訓導主任蔣國恩，關鍵時刻，動員校園巡守員投入支援。攝影組長簡世昌，用鏡頭紀錄動人的歷史時刻，熬夜上傳大量影片。活動組長梁嘉卿，蕭惠玟，準備舞台道具，貴賓茶水，伴手禮，鉅細靡遺。

新舞台，讓先前規劃好的舞台設計，必須全部砍掉重練！特別感謝熱血家長，Julie，Nick, Faye，Kenny, Tracy，Cindy，Tze Yu，袁伯倫，Christa，Melissa，Annie，Christine，Ada，Wei Jiang，Kwong Tan，Yi-Chun，Steven，Tracy Tang，Eric Lee，以及許多沒有留下姓名，默默在各個角落為學校努力的熱血家長，不求回報，義不容辭捲起衣袖，和行政團隊一起爬上爬下，校園裡外奔走，合力完成喜氣又大氣的新年舞台佈置工作！活動結束，家長和老師們主動協助，三百張椅子，以迅雷不及掩耳的速度歸位！道具也收拾得一乾二淨！灣谷的好家長，好老師，乖巧的學生助教，實在太讓人感動 We did it together! 衷心感謝大家，成就2023兔年新春聯歡，讓灣谷重視海外文化傳承的傳統得以延續。感謝您愛校，團結，胼手胝足，無私付出。以愛耕耘，祝願灣谷繼續茁壯！

🏮A Thank You Note from Principal Lee:

Thank you to all the supporters of BVCS who braved the cold and rain to attend our Lunar New Year Celebration. The inclement weather and rain forecast, which could greatly impact our outdoor event, forced us to resort to a change of venue. A heartfelt appreciation to all the volunteers and staff; without their support and resilience, our event could not be so successful!

Flashing back to the day before the celebration when our contingency plan was activated. In order to search for an alternative venue, numerous phone calls and emails were exchanged between the San Ramon Valley Unified School District’s Rental Facility and BVCS. Much to our relief, at 4 pm, we received the notice, “Your request is approved!” Instead of the outdoor stage area at Pine Valley Middle School, we changed the location to the multi-purpose room at Gale Ranch Middle School.

We were very fortunate to be allowed to host our event at Gale Ranch Middle School last Saturday. Their multi-purpose room is equipped with air-conditioning, sound and lighting control, a huge stage, a velvet traveler curtain, and a full capacity for 700. It is an ideal venue for large-scale events such as the Spring Festival Gala. The bad weather was indeed a blessing in disguise.

With the new venue being finalized, our teachers immediately sent email notifications to our parents, and simultaneously an update was released on BVCS’ Facebook and website. In a great collaborative spirit, our parent volunteers followed suit and kept the preparation rolling.

Deep gratitude to all the players and supporters: Former principal Kay Wang for passing on her valuable experience and advice on the event flow and stage setting; Board of directors Evelyne Chang, Hsiao-ling Chin, and Shirley Lin; Board Secretary Cecilia Mok, Director of Communications Angela Chou, Webmaster Vicky Chung for their close monitoring; Assistant Principal Shirley Lin, Treasurer Melody Tsai, and Registrar Becky Kao for their all-in support; Director of Student Affairs Frank Chiang for mobilizing parent-yard-duties to keep the safe-running of our event; Photographer Sean Chien for capturing our memories of the event in photos and losing no time to upload them to us in the wee hours of the night; Director of Activities Julie Liang and Assistant Director of Activities Christine Chien for preparing stage props, refreshment for staff, and gift bags for honorable guests.

A new venue means a new stage. The previously designed stage setting was scratched, scraped, and started afresh. Special thanks go to our passionate parents, Julie, Nick, Faye, Kenny, Tracy, Cindy, Tze Yu, David Yuen, Christa, Melissa, Annie, Christine, Ada, Wei Jiang, Kwong Tan, Yi-Chun, Steven, Tracy Tang, Eric Lee, and many unsung heroes who joined our staff to set up the new and beautiful stage. At the end of the event, parent volunteers and teachers, on auto-pilot mode, moved all 300 chairs back to the storage area in record time. BVCS’ Lunar New Year Celebration not only offers an opportunity to enjoy the festivity but also exemplifies the big-family BVCS spirit! BVCS’ students, teaching assistants, parents, staff, and volunteers are the best!

We did it together!
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart! The success of the 2023 Lunar New Year Celebration was a result of your creativity, hard work, and concerted effort! Your dedication and support make it possible for BVCS to continue its mission of passing down the cultural heritage overseas. Your love and solidarity make me proud! Wish BVCS continues to grow and thrive!

朗誦比賽，箭在弦上！

2月17日下午5點，灣谷中文學校即將舉辦朗誦比賽。第一名優勝者，將代表學校出征，參加「北加州中文學校聯合會」所主辦的年度學術競賽，和灣區各中文學校高手一較高下！報名的同學，加緊練習，機會只留給準備好的人！

Upcoming Read-Aloud Contest!

BVCS’ Read-Aloud Contest is happening on February 17 at 5 pm. The first-place winner will represent Bay Valley Chinese School to compete with the best of all Chinese Schools in the Bay Area at the annual competition organized by the Association of Northern California Chinese Schools (ANCCS)!

BStudents registered for the contest are now gearing up for their practice. Opportunity only makes itself known to people who are prepared.
