灣谷 18 歲了!
BVCS turned 18!

Following the last in-person instruction on March 6, and the closure of schools and college campuses amid the public health order to flatten the curve of COVID-19 transmission, the national lockdown has dramatically impacted each and every family and for some it is taking a heavy toll. Nevertheless, people have been adjusting swiftly their tempo of life in the past 3 months.

Students have to adapt to the virtual classroom environment, which means learning and interacting with teachers behind a screen. Teachers are quick to pick up skills to roll out online learning tools for families. The rise of e-Learning, whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms, seems to be the growing trend today.

BVCS has been educating students through digital and distance learning since mid-March. Although this arrangement succeeds to provide academic continuity to students during a public health crisis, it is not an ideal substitute of the traditional face-to-face setting on the school campus. It is with deep regret that this year, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lack of a facility venue, the annual Chinese New Year Celebration and the year-end Carnival, which are integral components of the culture learning at BVCS, had to be cancelled.

With the end of the academic year approaching and the introduction of Phase 2 easing of the shelter-in-place order, the administration is actively preparing for the next school term. Owing to the fluid situation in regard to the recession rate of COVID-19, San Ramon Valley Unified School District has not yet announced its policy on facility rental. Besides, the foreseeable economy slowdown and the possibility of COVID-19 resurgence would certainly affect enrollment across the board. Whether BVCS can reopen in the fall of 2020 depends on a number of factors, including the availability of rental space for our school and sufficient student enrollment for our financial sustainability. We appreciate your patience as we work to provide you in late July a thoughtful response regarding the 2020-2021 school plan. Please stay tuned and check your email.

Thank you all, for your ongoing assistance and partnership in this challenging time. Remote instruction in the past few months would not be successful without your help. You are the most remarkable and supportive school community we could ever hope for.
