  Stay Home

The California's statewide shelter-in-place order has been revised to extend through May 31. Millions of Californians over the past month and a halfhave to restrict their social interaction and limit their physical activities. This course of action nevertheless is paying off. Although the disease has not been eradicated, the rate of infections and death seems slowing down and the curve is flattened. Governor Newsom has announced that the State is moving into Stage 2, gradually reopening the economy. As of today, some lower risk business sectors are allowed to resume work with adaptations to newworkplace protocol.

In Stage 2, whether the public school system will reopen soon in the summer or has to wait until the fall remains uncertain. One thing for sure is that Bay Valley Chinese School will continue remote instruction for the rest of this semester. Desperate times call for desperate measures. The coronavirus crisis uproots our conventional medium of instruction. Online teaching mitigates the risk of students' loss of learning in the absence of a tangible classroom and caters to their academic needs in the interactive virtual environment. Approaching to the end of this school term, the administration would like to express again our gratitude to our parents and guardians whose support plays a vital part in the success of the online learning experience.

As always, stay positive and stay healthy. Wish that we would be out of the woods soon and life will return to normalcy in the near future. Wish you all a happy Mother's Day!
